In a state that nationally ranks at or near the bottom in Reading and Math, Overall Education Quality, and Child Well-Being, Santa Fe Hestia Fund is on a mission to increase high school graduation rates in Santa Fe Public Schools by annually recommending and funding grants to local nonprofit organizations that provide underserved middle school students with equity access, essential services and enrichment programs.
A philanthropic women’s giving circle dedicated to making a transformational difference in Santa Fe, Hestia has distributed over $2,400,000 in grants to Santa Fe nonprofits since its founding in 2008.
Hestia members collectively determine and bestow grants based on our Whole Child Framework and hold true four core beliefs:
- Middle School Focus: Middle school is a critical time in a child’s life and can positively or negatively affect their future prospects. Supporting students during middle school years dramatically increases high school graduation rates and sets them on a path toward successful lives.
- The Whole Child Framework: Future success for middle school students relies on access to strong, sustained relationships with supportive adults who provide developmental experiences, essential services and enrichment programs.
- Empowered Students: When middle school students are supported, positively engaged, thriving, and aspiring, they will stay focused on their futures and graduate from high school.
- Collective Impact: Operating as a giving circle, joining forces more effectively enriches student lives. Hestia supports nonprofits that encourage academic proficiency, inspire broader horizons, create opportunities for expression and connections, and enable the development of the social and emotional tools needed to stay in school and navigate the future.
