The primary goal of Scrub Club is to get our younger students more interested in science and math, as well as becoming better critical thinkers. We also seek to get many of them “hooked” on the bio-medical sciences, and thus on a path to continue with the Medical Science Academy at Capital High. Of great importance (and still a challenge) is getting young boys excited about this science opportunity. Level III, composed entirely of middle school students, focuses on medical/healthcare career modules and lab practical skills in order to prepare participants for the world of work and secondary/post-secondary training. This includes guest speakers from Santa Fe’s healthcare community and field trips to Santa Fe Community College and the University of New Mexico.”
